Terms of Use

These terms cover how the online picture archive, the catalogue records and the print-on-demand editions may be used. They are written in plain language, and they apply to anyone who looks at, cites or orders from the gallery.

Using the online gallery

The online gallery mirrors the physical hang room by room. You may browse, study and cite the works for personal, educational or editorial reference. The zoom view exists so paper grain and brush marks can be examined closely, not so images can be extracted, rehosted or passed off as another collection.

Catalogue records

Each entry records the maker, the medium, the year and a short note on where the work was made. These records are reference material. They may not be altered, shortened or reattributed, and the maker's name must stay attached to the work wherever it is quoted.

Print-on-demand editions

Selected editions are offered as print-on-demand. Placing an order does not create an account, a subscription or a stored cart, and nothing renews on its own. The catalogue states which works are available this way and which are held only in the physical hang.

Visits and catalogue requests

You can request the seasonal catalogue by email, join a Saturday walk-through or ask for a studio visit with a resident artist. A request is a request only. It does not reserve a place, confirm a date or guarantee that a work is still available.

Responsibility and limits

The gallery keeps its records accurate and its images true to the works, but it does not warrant that every page is free of error or interruption. To the extent the law allows, the gallery is not liable for indirect loss arising from use of the archive, and nothing here removes rights you hold under South African law.

Changes and contact

These terms may be updated as the gallery's programmes change, and the current version always applies. For any legal question about the archive, the catalogue records or an edition, write to contact@putnamfarms.com or call +27 62 180 3972. Postal address: The Firs, 32A Cradock Avenue, Rosebank, Johannesburg, 2196, South Africa.

A note about the gallery
